Dogs on Call: Read with Me (All ages) Saturday, August 19, 2:30-4:00pm Read with a trained therapy dog or cat at the library! Bring a favorite book from home, or choose one at the library. All ages are welcome; sign up for a 15-minute time slot by calling (608) 827-7402.

Outside the Library

Join us outside to view the partial solar eclipse or watch live streaming of the Total Solar Eclipse on monitors in the library! Partial Solar Eclipse - local info: Begins at 11:50 am Maximum at 1:15 pm (85% of sun covered by moon) Ends at 2:37 pm Participants will receive a free pair of special protective solar eyeglasses (while supplies last). It is NOT SAFE to look directly at the sun during an eclipse without the proper protection. Regular sunglasses are not enough. Protect Your Eyes! Never look directly at the Sun, eclipsed or otherwise, without any protective eyewear. The Sun’s UV radiation can burn the retinas in the eyes leading to permanent damage or even blindness. The only way to safely watch a total solar eclipse is to wear protective eclipse glasses or to project an image of the eclipsed Sun using a pinhole projector. How to make a pinhole projector
