Come for stories, songs, dancing, and more! This storytime will consist of shorter books, fun songs, playful rhymes, and early literacy skills.

Peter Fletcher is an American classical guitarist based in Detroit and New York City. His recordings on the Centaur Records and Towerhill Recordings labels have been critically acclaimed. He is a graduate of the Eastman School of Music.
Peter will play an audience friendly recital that runs the gamut from the Renaissance Period through the 20th Century. His program features Bach’s Third Lute Suite and Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring; Suite Española by Gaspar Sanz and Spanish guitarist and composer Francisco Tárrega’s extraordinarily beautiful Capriccio Arabe. Peter is especially excited to perform Simple Gifts, a Traditional Shaker Hymn arranged for guitar by guitarist Christopher Parkening. He will play a captivating work entitled Usher – Valse by Russian guitarist and composer Nikita Koshkin. Composed in 1984, this piece has taken inspiration from the short story The Fall Of The House Of Usherby Edgar Allen Poe.The concert will culminate with Spanish composer Isaac Albeniz’s Córdoba and Leyenda from Cantos de España, arranged by Fletcher from piano to classical guitar
His interests outside of music include reading, gardening, running, long distance cycling and fountain pens.

1000 Books Before Kindergarten

Register here for the at home self-paced 1000 Books Before Kindergarten reading program.
1000 Books Before Kindergarten encourages family time and promotes early literacy through reading. The simple and enjoyable act of reading to children helps them learn pre-reading skills such as phonetic awareness and vocabulary building.
Registration includes a keepsake 1000 Books Before Kindergarten journal, stickers for each 100 books read, early literacy information and more!

After shopping at the library, head to the Senior Center for their Fall Craft Fair from 9-1! Double the shopping, double the fun!
Anyone interested in selling at the craft fair must fill out the application form found at midlibrary.org/craftfair by September 19th.

This fun and interactive workshop teaches kids more about what engineering careers can look like for them in the future. Kids will learn about an engineering field, the people who work in engineering and will participate in an activity related to that field.
Srigodha Aluka is the founder of Future Fields, a nonprofit aiding younger children in finding a passion for engineering. Srigodha is a sophomore at Middleton High School, interested in pursuing aerospace engineering in the future.
