Stop by Parkside Heights Park on July 21 from 1:00-2:30pm to choose some free books to keep!  All Middleton Cross Plains School District students in grades K-12 are invited.

The Northside Elementary librarian will be there along with Kromrey Middle School and Elm Lawn staff.  and Middleton Public Library staff.  The new Middleton Public Library Bookmobile will be there too! Step onboard to borrow books for all ages, get a library card, or return borrowed items. 

Parkside Heights Park is located at at 3201 Northbrook in Middleton.

This event is rain or shine! If raining, this event will be held inside the entryway at Kromrey Middle School (7009 Donna Drive).

Visit the Middleton Public Library's Bookmobile on Wednesday, July 8 at the Free Summer Meals Program in the Middleton High School cafeteria!  

All MCPASD students ages 18 and younger and community members under 18 years old can receive free breakfast and lunch from June 22 through July 30 through the Free Summer Meals Program held at the Middleton High School.  Breakfast is served 7:45am-8:45am and lunch is serviced 11:00am-12:20pm. PLEASE NOTE: all meals must be eaten on-site & carry out meals are not available.  

Step onboard the bookmobile when it visits this Free Summer Meals program at Middleton High School on July 8, 15, 22, and 29 from 11-12:30pm to borrow books during the library's visit, and choose a free book to keep! (while supplies last)  Look for the bookmobile parked right out front of the cafeteria!

Bring your little sprouts to the Greenway Station Farmers' Market on Thursday, July 23 for Mini's at the Market, a free, family-friendly event! 

The Middleton Public Library Bookmobile will be at the market from 9:30-11:30am with books to borrow for all ages as well as free books for kids to choose from. (while supplies last).  There will also be a variety of outdoor toys for kids to enjoy. 

Bring your shopping bag and make sure to stop by all of the wonderful vendors at the farmers' market, which is open from 8-1pm. 

Greenway Station is located at 1650 Deming Way in Middleton.

1000 Books Before Kindergarten

**This is not an in person event**

Register here for the at home self-paced 1000 Books Before Kindergarten reading program.

1000 Books Before Kindergarten encourages family time and promotes early literacy through reading. The simple and enjoyable act of reading to children helps them learn pre-reading skills such as phonetic awareness and vocabulary building. 

Registration includes a keepsake 1000 Books Before Kindergarten journal, stickers for each 100 books read, early literacy information and more!

Visit the Middleton Public Library Bookmobile at Orchid Heights Park (3960 Valley Ridge Rd) on Monday, July 27 between 9:30-10:30am. Look for the bookmobile in the parking lot or street level by the playground. 

The bookmobile is full of books for all ages to borrow with a library card. Don't have a library card yet? Get one on the bookmobile!  There will also be a cart of free books for kids and teens to choose from and keep (while supplies last). 

Stay and play in the park. Bring a picnic. Explore the nearby trails. There's so much to do at Orchid Heights!

Forest Whales (All Ages)

Friday, July 31, 11am-4pm

Northside Elementary School, 3620 High Road, Middleton WI

A 56-foot, life-size inflatable gray whale is coming to Middleton, and she can't wait to meet you! Clara the whale brings hands-on marine science and paleontology to life for the whole family. Step inside her belly, hold Megalodon teeth, touch a narwhal tusk, and see other replica bones up close. Discover what makes whales some of the most remarkable animals on Earth!

This event features:

  • A full-size walk-through whale experience
  • Hands-on fossils and marine specimens for all ages
  • Fun facts and stories from a presenter who has introduced Clara to 12,000 kids in 2026 alone

Registration Appreciated. 

This event takes place at Northside Elementary School (3620 High Rd. Middleton.) The wait time to enter the whale may be long, but don't worry - your librarians will have lots of entertainment options while you wait.

Saturday August 8   
 

Join the Middleton Public Library on Saturday, August 8, from 10-2PM at Capital Flight (8264 Airport Road, Middleton) for the Aviation and Autos event, with 100% of the proceeds benefiting CARS CURING KIDS! Donation opportunities available if you would like to support Cars Curing Kids, which helps fund pediatric research at the American Family Children’s Hospital in Madison.

Admission is FREE for spectators!  Entrance is at the main gate located at 8300 Airport Rd., Middleton, WI.  Explore the planes, cars, and the Capital Flight Hangar for displays and auction items.  

Make sure to also visit the Middleton Public Library's Bookmobile during the event to borrow books or get a library card. Kids can also choose a free kids book to keep! (while supplies last)

PLEASE NOTE: This is a live airfield. Aircraft movements will be occurring. Give them a wide birth. Also please watch children etc… as many highly valuable collector vehicles and aircraft will be present. Definitely look, but please don’t touch any of the cars or aircraft on display!

Food and drinks will be available to purchase on-site. Enjoy live music too!

Slide into a good book this summer! 

Stop by Parkside Heights Park on August 18 from 1:00-2:30pm to choose some free books to keep!  All Middleton Cross Plains School District students in grades K-12 are invited.

The Northside Elementary librarian will be there along with Kromrey Middle School and Elm Lawn staff.  and Middleton Public Library staff.  The new Middleton Public Library Bookmobile will be there too! Step onboard to borrow books for all ages, get a library card, or return borrowed items. 

Parkside Heights Park is located at at 3201 Northbrook in Middleton.

This event is rain or shine! If raining, this event will be held inside the entryway at Kromrey Middle School (7009 Donna Drive).

Travel around to different stations to create balloon-powered cars, kaleidoscopes, sand art, suncatchers, and other projects we might find in our craft storage room! (While supplies last)

Monday August 24   
 

Visit the Middleton Public Library Bookmobile at Orchid Heights Park (3960 Valley Ridge Rd) on Monday, August 24 between 9:30-10:30am. Look for the bookmobile in the parking lot or street level by the playground. 

The bookmobile is full of books for all ages to borrow with a library card. Don't have a library card yet? Get one on the bookmobile!  There will also be a cart of free books for kids and teens to choose from and keep (while supplies last). 

Stay and play in the park. Bring a picnic. Explore the nearby trails. There's so much to do at Orchid Heights!

Bring your little sprouts to the Greenway Station Farmers' Market on Thursday, August 27 for Mini's at the Market, a free, family-friendly event! 

The Middleton Public Library Bookmobile will be at the market from 9:30-11:30am with books to borrow for all ages as well as free books for kids to choose from. (while supplies last).  There will also be a variety of outdoor toys for kids to enjoy. 

Bring your shopping bag and make sure to stop by all of the wonderful vendors at the farmers' market, which is open from 8-1pm. 

Greenway Station is located at 1650 Deming Way in Middleton. 




Saturday August 29   
 

Visit the Middleton Public Library's Bookmobile at the Good Neighbor Fest on Saturday, August 29! 

Step onboard to borrow books for all ages or to get a library card. There will also be some free books to keep for all ages too (while supplies last)! 

See you there, neighbors! The Good Neighbor Fest is located near Middleton High School (2100 Bristol Street).  You can find the bookmobile by the high school.

1000 Books Before Kindergarten

Register here for the at home self-paced 1000 Books Before Kindergarten reading program.

1000 Books Before Kindergarten encourages family time and promotes early literacy through reading. The simple and enjoyable act of reading to children helps them learn pre-reading skills such as phonetic awareness and vocabulary building. 

Registration includes a keepsake 1000 Books Before Kindergarten journal, stickers for each 100 books read, early literacy information and more!
