'Tween Book Club: Pie in the Sky

When Jingwen moves to a new country, school is hard, making friends feels impossible since he doesn't speak English, and he's often stuck watching his younger (and annoying) brother. To distract himself, he dreams of baking all the cakes on his father's dream baker, but his mother has banned him from using the oven while she's gone.

The Mammoth Hunters (All ages)

Saturday, January 11 @ 1pm

“The Mammoth Hunters” takes the audience on a tour of the lives of prehistoric hunters right here in Wisconsin. Using a large display of artifact and fossil reproductions, you will go on a hunt for a wooly mammoth. You'll learn about the archeology behind what we know, see demonstrations of a variety of tools and skills, including the atlatl, friction fire, and even a few ancient musical instruments. The show will end with an up close, hands-on look at the items on display.

Join us for this epic Nerf battle between the stacks of the Middleton Library. We'll gather after-hours in the library for an evening of battle fun with Nerf Outings Madison! Bring your own Nerf blasters or borrow one from NOMAD (supplies are limited). 

This event is for ages 12 & up. Each participant must have a signed waiver, which will be sent in the week leading up to the event. Those under 18 must have the waiver signed by a guardian.

The Middleton Public Library is excited to host its first-ever “How-To Fest”! This hands-on, all-ages festival will showcase local expertise, bringing the community together to learn new skills and hobbies in short 5-10 min demonstrations.

Do you have a skill to share? Please read below for more information, and to apply.

The library is looking for a diversity of skills to share!  Examples include: 

  • how to sew a button
  • how to practice chair yoga
  • how to ID invasive and poisonous plants
  • how to use a fire extinguisher
  • how to adopt and foster dogs
  • and more!

The possibilities are endless, and we welcome your creativity!
